The President of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, and the Mayor of Sencelles, Joan Carles Verd, signed today a collaboration agreement to draft a new general urban development plan for the municipality, in line with current regulations. The plan is expected to be completed within four years.

The event was also attended by the Regional Minister for Territory, Mobility and Infrastructures, Fernando Rubio, and the Island Director of Urban Planning and Municipal Development, Maria José Frau.

The agreement will last a maximum of five years, with the possibility of extension if still under processing, and the Council’s planning services will provide technical and legal assistance at no cost to the municipality.

Sencelles to Renew Its Urban Planning After 30 Years Thanks to an Agreement with the Consell de Mallorca

This initiative is part of the new collaboration program of the Consell, approved in February, aimed at municipalities with between 5,000 and 10,000 inhabitants whose urban plans are outdated or nonexistent.

“The goal is to provide towns in Mallorca, such as Sencelles, with a modern urban planning tool that ensures orderly and sustainable growth,” Galmés stated.

This agreement represents a significant milestone for Sencelles, whose urban plan has not been updated for 30 years, despite notable population growth. Other municipalities, such as Bunyola, are also expected to sign similar agreements soon.
