Participates in BIOSPAIN 2025, the premier biotech meeting in Southern Europe, held from Tuesday through Friday

The Balearic Bioregion brings together hospitals, universities, research centers, companies, and public institutions collaborating to generate knowledge, attract talent, and develop innovative solutions for both the health system and society.

Through its participation in BIOSPAIN 2025 (October 7–9 in Barcelona), the Health Ministry seeks to spotlight the “Balearic Bioregion” concept, which encompasses the public and private actors driving R&D and innovation in health across the Balearic Islands.

At the Bioregion Balear stand, entities such as the Health Research Institute (IdISBa), IB-Salut (including Manacor Hospital, Primary Care, and the Health Living Lab at Son Espases University Hospital), the University-Business Foundation of the Balearic Islands (FUEIB), and the BIOIB cluster (with its associated companies) are represented. This joint presence showcases the archipelago’s scientific excellence and reinforces a cooperative governance model.

Health Ministry Boosts Research and Innovation via the Bioregion

Seven thematic panels will highlight key strategic areas of health innovation in the region: digitalisation of health management, green and sustainable biotechnology, biotech business development, validation and technological capabilities, NextHealth projects, health data science, and a holistic view of the R&D&I health ecosystem.

The Health Ministry leads and coordinates the Balearic Islands’ participation in BIOSPAIN 2025. The archipelago’s presence aims to foster collaboration with institutions, investors, and tech partners, while enhancing the sector’s international projection.

Since publishing the Balearic Islands’ Health Research & Innovation Strategy, the Ministry has worked to position the health innovation ecosystem as a regional reference, recognising it as a vital pillar for the archipelago’s socio-economic progress.

The role of the Ministry as promoter and coordinator of the participation in BIOSPAIN 2025 is a strategic move to consolidate the Balearics as a Bioregion, serve as a hub in the ecosystem, and connect researchers, companies, startups, hospitals, and tech centres. This will facilitate synergy and joint projects within the autonomous community.
