This week —on Wednesday and Thursday— Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca (SFM) is hosting a two-day working conference that gathers leading railway operation experts from several Spanish regions. Participants include professionals from Renfe, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), Euskotren, the Spanish Railways Foundation (FFE), Metro de Madrid, MetroBilbao, and Metro de Málaga.
Now in its sixteenth edition, this biannual meeting is part of SFM’s ongoing collaboration agreements with other public railway operators, aimed at fostering synergies and continuously improving service quality and safety.

SFM brings together railway operation experts from across Spain for a working conference
The event began with a technical visit to key SFM facilities, such as the Centralised Traffic Control (CTC) centre located at the Intermodal Station and the new ParcBit metro station.
Throughout the sessions, participants focus on two main areas: operational safety and service planning and scheduling. Discussions also include lessons learned from extreme weather or technological incidents and the implementation of the “just culture” approach in railway safety — a philosophy that promotes learning and improvement through the analysis of errors and incidents.
SFM hosted the very first meeting of this kind back in March 2017. Since then, the company has taken part in every biannual edition, strengthening its commitment to collaboration and continuous enhancement of Spain’s railway operations.
