The Es Garrover Foundation and the Inca City Council have launched the second edition of the short story contest “Contes des de l’ànima” (Stories from the Soul) — a cultural and educational initiative that brings together literary creativity and mental health awareness.

After the success of the first edition, which drew participation from over one hundred students from Inca’s schools, the contest returns this year to break down stigma, promote visibility around mental health, and encourage artistic expression among young people.

Organised in celebration of World Mental Health Day (October 10), the event will be accompanied by the traditional “Mental Health Trophy” football day, to be held on Saturday, August 18, at 12:00 p.m. at the Sallista football field.
The day will include a skills contest open to everyone and a friendly football match between Es Garrover Foundation and Leather Fest Rock, promoting community participation and inclusion through sport.

The short story contest is open to young people residing or studying in Inca, born between 1995 and 2013, who may submit short stories in Catalan of up to 750 characters or 10 lines, excluding the title.
The contest rules are available at esgarrover.org/contes-des-de-lanima and include three age categories (12-14, 15-18, and 19-30), with three prizes per category consisting of gift vouchers for artistic or literary materials from local shops such as Espirafocs, Univers Literari, Tot Llibres, and Jusantre, with a total value of €900.

Entries can be submitted until November 9, and the jury’s decision, composed of literary and cultural professionals and individuals with lived experience in mental health, will be announced on December 17.

Through this initiative, the Es Garrover Foundation and the Inca City Council aim to engage the whole community in mental health awareness, using culture and sport as tools for social change and giving voice to young people and local associations.
