The Consell of Mallorca has reached an agreement with the vacation rental platform Holidu to introduce a new quality seal ensuring that only legally compliant properties can be listed on the platform.

This certification will verify that each property holds a valid tourist license and meets all local regulatory standards. Holidu has pledged to feature exclusively verified listings and to immediately remove any property that lacks the required documentation.

The initiative was unveiled during a partner event held at Bodega Santa Catalina in Sencelles, marking another step in the joint effort between the Consell and online booking platforms to combat illegal rentals across the island.

The Minister of Tourism, José Marcial Rodríguez, emphasised that the agreement “represents a decisive step toward eliminating illegal accommodation and promoting responsible tourism that benefits both residents and visitors.” He also noted that “public-private cooperation is essential to maintaining Mallorca’s sustainable tourism model and safeguarding residents’ quality of life.”

Meanwhile, Elena Short, Holidu’s Director for the Balearic Islands, highlighted the company’s leadership in this initiative: “We are proud to lead this movement toward transparent and sustainable tourism, ensuring that every property is properly registered and complies with current regulations.”

With this new quality seal, Mallorca strengthens its commitment to legal, responsible, and sustainable tourism, ensuring that all advertised holiday rentals operate within the law and contribute positively to the island’s community.
