The Spanish Ministry of Equality has condemned the gender-based killing of a 46-year-old woman in the province of Badajoz, allegedly murdered by her partner on October 14. There were no prior reports of gender-based violence against the suspect.
With this case confirmed, the number of women killed by gender-based violence rises to 30 in 2025 and 1,325 since 2003, the year when official records began.

Ministry of Equality Condemns the Gender-Based Murder of a Woman in Badajoz Province
The Minister of Equality, Ana Redondo García, and the Government Delegate for Gender Violence, Carmen Martínez Perza, expressed their strongest condemnation and rejection of this latest femicide and extended their support and solidarity to the victim’s family and friends. Both called for greater coordination between institutions and administrations, and urged society as a whole to act to prevent further deaths.

The 016 service provides information on available resources and victims’ rights, as well as legal advice from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., in 53 languages, and includes support for persons with disabilities.
In emergencies, individuals can call 112, 091 (National Police), or 062 (Civil Guard). If calling is not possible, the ALERTCOPS app can be used to send a geolocated alert directly to law enforcement.
The Ministry reminds citizens that these resources can be used by both victims and anyone who knows or suspects a case of gender-based violence. Ending this violence is a shared responsibility.
