The Balearic Institute of Studies (IEB) took part once again in the Frankfurt Book Fair 2025, held from October 15 to 17 in Germany, sharing a joint stand with the Ramon Llull Institute.

The Frankfurter Buchmesse is regarded as one of the most significant global events in the publishing industry, serving as a major platform where booksellers, publishers, literary agents, illustrators, authors, and translators from around the world meet to explore new business models and professional opportunities.

IEB representatives Cristina Gaviño and Karen Müller attended the fair with a busy schedule of meetings with publishers from Germany, Egypt, Italy, Chile, Poland, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. As the Philippines was this year’s guest of honour, the IEB also met with several publishing houses from that country.

During the event, the IEB presented its catalogues of new Balearic literary works, including children’s illustrated books and comics, and promoted its grant program aimed at international publishers interested in translating and publishing works by authors and illustrators from the Balearic Islands.

According to IEB director Llorenç Perelló, participating in international events such as the Frankfurt Book Fair “is essential to achieving the institution’s goals, fostering communication with international literary agents and creating new opportunities for cultural exchange and promotion of Balearic literature.”
