October 16, 2025. The Consell of Mallorca, through its Department of Economic Promotion and Local Development, has awarded grants to 25 social economy entities to help modernise, enhance visibility, and improve the competitiveness of their physical retail spaces.

The funding, published today in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands (BOIB), amounts to a total of €380,386, representing a 13% increase over 2024 and a 47% rise in the number of beneficiaries compared to the previous year, when 17 organisations received support.

This call targets companies, cooperatives, and associations with direct sales points for local products from Mallorca, aiming to strengthen a business model based on social responsibility, sustainability, and local commerce.

According to the Councillor for Economic Promotion and Local Development, Pilar Amate, the goal of this aid program is “to boost activity in physical stores that promote social responsibility through investments that allow them to modernise and become more competitive in an increasingly globalised and digital market.”

Amate also emphasised that these initiatives contribute to promoting local products and proximity-based trade, supporting small businesses and cooperatives that offer goods produced on the island.

The grants will finance projects improving energy efficiency, ensuring universal accessibility, acquiring technological equipment and software, and optimising product display and organisation.

Among the supported entities are the Agricultural Cooperative of Sant Joan, the Farmers’ Cooperative of Pollença, the Organic Food Producers Cooperative, the Fishermen’s Guild of Santanyí, the Fishermen’s Guild of Colònia de Sant Jordi, and the Deixalles Foundation, among others.
