The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food will advance a total of €2.56 billion between October 16 and November 30, 2025, to the regional paying agencies responsible for distributing Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) direct aid for the 2025 campaign.
This measure aims to provide greater liquidity to farmers and livestock producers, especially in light of the current geopolitical instability and adverse weather conditions affecting agricultural regions across the European Union.

Advance payments of up to 70%
The advance payment is optional, and it is up to each autonomous community to decide whether to apply it, when to make it, and to which aid schemes it will be allocated, following national regulations. All payments are subject to preliminary checks to ensure the proper use of EU funds.
At Spain’s request, the European Commission has authorised an increase of up to 70% in advance payments of direct aid, to help EU farmers manage the start of the agricultural season and mitigate the economic effects of the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East.
Payment schedule and forecasts
The regular payment period for direct aid will begin on December 1, 2025, allowing regions to pay up to 90% of the total amount. The final 100% payment will be authorised from May 15, 2026, once the definitive amounts have been calculated. Payments can continue until June 30, 2026, with residual disbursements allowed up to October 15, 2026, marking the end of the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (EAGF) fiscal year.
