Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca (SFM) has added 12 new permanent employees to its team this week as part of an ongoing strategy to enhance Mallorca’s rail and metro services. With these additions, together with the 17 employees who joined last year, the company has reached 29 new permanent hires during the current term.
The Government of the Balearic Islands remains committed to expanding service hours, increasing train frequencies and developing new infrastructure projects. To achieve these goals, SFM plans to progressively increase its total workforce by up to 50 % in the coming years. Recruitment efforts are already underway, with more positions planned in the public job offers for 2024 and 2025, totalling 31 additional posts.

SFM strengthens its workforce with 12 new permanent employees to improve rail services
The new employees signed their contracts on Monday and have now begun the required theoretical and practical training. These positions correspond to recruitment processes launched in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
The roles include operations inspectors, administrative staff, technical service assistants, railway safety personnel, train drivers and station managers, among others. A total of 450 candidates took part in the selection process. Those who passed the exam but did not obtain a position have been included in a professional reserve list.
In addition to permanent hires, SFM recently reinforced the circulation department with six interim workers, marking the first temporary hiring since 2009.
