Train service interruption due to construction works and replacement bus between Intermodal Station and Pont d’Inca Nou on the weekend of November 8 and 9

The demolition of the elevated bridge over Greco Street, currently under construction, is scheduled for the weekend to minimise inconvenience to users.

Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca (SFM) will suspend rail traffic between the Intermodal Station and Pont d’Inca Nou in both directions on the weekend of Saturday, November 8, and Sunday, November 9, due to the remodelling works of the elevated crossing on Greco Street, next to the Verge de Lluc station. As an alternative, users will be able to use a replacement bus service covering all stations along this section, organised by SFM in collaboration with EMT Palma.

Train service interruption

The remodelling works of the elevated crossing on Greco Street are in an advanced phase. At this stage, the existing bridge will be demolished, and new decks will be installed to support the new structure. These works inevitably require an interruption of rail traffic in this section and have been scheduled intensively for the weekend of November 8 and 9 to minimise inconvenience to users.

As an alternative, SFM and EMT Palma have scheduled a special bus service between the Intermodal Station and Pont d’Inca Nou, connecting both stations and making on-demand stops at intermediate locations very close to the affected train stations: Jacint Verdaguer, Son Costa–Son Fortesa, Son Fuster, Son Cladera–es Viver, Verge de Lluc, Pont d’Inca, and Pont d’Inca Nou. For operational reasons, the replacement buses will not allow bicycles.

The EMT Palma buses will depart from or arrive at the Intermodal Station at bays 18, 19, and 20, while at Pont d’Inca Nou, the bus stop will be located next to the train station. All intermediate stops have been placed parallel to the train line, at the height of each station and at a short distance. The train service between Pont d’Inca Nou and the rest of the stations will operate normally.

The remodelling works on Greco Street are now in their final phase and are expected to be completed by December. This much-needed project involves replacing the current crossing with a new structure to solve the bridge’s deterioration problems.

Users can find all detailed information about the route, stops, and schedules for the replacement buses on the websites of SFM and TIB.
