The President of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, together with the Councillor for Economic Promotion and Local Development, Clàudia Amate, visited on Thursday various projects carried out in Vilafranca de Bonany under the 2024-2025 Works and Services Plan (POS), with a total investment of €960,000.

During the visit, Mayor Montserrat Rosselló and Education Councillor Marta Oliver provided details of the initiatives, which include improvements to basic infrastructure and the acquisition of new municipal facilities.

The Town Council has also acquired two rural plots on Carrer Ermità Agustí, worth €114,364, to be used for public educational facilities, specifically for the future construction of a secondary school.

In addition, the POS programme financed the extension of the stormwater drainage network, covering Carrer S’Aigua-Amargura, S’Aigua, Unió and del Sol, with an investment of €379,000, improving the town’s flood management system.

The visit also included the presentation of new municipal vehicles, including a pick-up truck for Civil Protection (€55,000) and two vans for the municipal works brigade (€27,800).

President Galmés expressed his satisfaction “at seeing how these investments directly improve the daily lives of Mallorcans” and reaffirmed the Consell’s “commitment to municipal development as a pillar of local governance.”

Councillor Amate added that “the POS budget has doubled this term, allowing many essential projects to become a reality, especially in smaller towns that rely on this financial support.”

Two further projects are currently underway within the same programme: the renovation of sections of Carrers Sant Josep and Mestral (€103,000) and the elimination of a low-lying flood point at the junction of Carrers Ponent and dels Rocabertí (€47,650).
