The Department of Environment has announced a 20.5 % reduction in the fee charged for the treatment of construction and demolition waste (CDW) starting in 2026. This reduction exceeds the initial target of 10 % set at the beginning of the current legislative term.
- CDW fee in 2026: will decrease from €42.23/ton to €33.57/ton
- This is the second consecutive year of fee reduction (4 % reduction in 2025)
President Llorenç Galmés highlighted that this achievement stems from efficient management aimed at easing the financial burden on citizens. In 2024, a record 744,000 tons of this type of waste were processed on the island.
