The Department of Environment has announced a 20.5 % reduction in the fee charged for the treatment of construction and demolition waste (CDW) starting in 2026. This reduction exceeds the initial target of 10 % set at the beginning of the current legislative term.

  • CDW fee in 2026: will decrease from €42.23/ton to €33.57/ton
  • This is the second consecutive year of fee reduction (4 % reduction in 2025)

President Llorenç Galmés highlighted that this achievement stems from efficient management aimed at easing the financial burden on citizens. In 2024, a record 744,000 tons of this type of waste were processed on the island.

Councillor Pedro Bestard emphasised that the increase in processed waste is due to greater public awareness of recycling and ongoing inspections to combat illegal dumping.

Additionally:

  • 7 % cut in bulky waste (RV): from €178.15/ton to €165.58/ton
  • 8.7 % cut in used tyre waste (PNFU): from €118.03/ton to €107.74/ton

These new fees will be approved in the November plenary session and will take effect in 2026.
