The Consell of Mallorca and Es Baluard Museu d’Art Contemporani in Palma hosted the first edition of the Bienal B Meeting: Art, Culture and Science this Friday. The event served as a prelude to the upcoming First International Congress on Art, Culture and Science, scheduled to take place from January 30 to 31, 2026, at Es Baluard Museum.
This inaugural gathering brought together artists, scientists, cultural professionals, and participants of the Bienal B’s ongoing projects, aiming to reflect on the initiatives developed so far and shape the content of next year’s congress.
The event was attended by Vice President and Councillor for Culture and Heritage, Antònia Roca, along with the Bienal B co-directors: oceanographer and science communicator Mercedes Martín, and museum director David Barro.

Antònia Roca praised the progress and interdisciplinary spirit of the project: “This first meeting has highlighted the Bienal’s ability to create collaborative spaces between disciplines, linking art and science to contemporary global debates.” She emphasised that the forthcoming international congress represents an opportunity to strengthen Mallorca’s role as a hub for global dialogue on culture, science, and sustainability.
Throughout the day, key strategic themes for the Bienal were outlined, prioritising the integration of arts and sciences, collaborative thinking, and sustainability. The directors highlighted the importance of bridging different fields of knowledge as a way to face future challenges collectively.
The program included a visit to the “Observatori Costa” project, panel discussions, short talks, and presentations on initiatives exploring the relationship between art, ecology, territory, and community knowledge, concluding with a performance by artist Julià Panadès that ritualised the connection between body, art, and shared thought.
