The Department of Economic Promotion and Local Development has approved nearly one million euros to fund 42 municipal projects aimed at enhancing the visibility of Mallorca’s local products through fairs, exhibitions and markets across the island.

This year’s call represents a major step forward compared to 2024, when 28 initiatives received support. The increase of more than 50% highlights a reinforced commitment to local economic growth and the promotion of authentic Mallorcan products.

One million euros granted to 35 municipalities to boost fairs and markets promoting Mallorca’s local products

During the announcement, Councillor Pilar Amate —joined by island director Álvaro Roca— underlined that the 2025 budget has grown by around 56% compared to the previous year. These funds help municipalities cover the costs of organising events that stimulate local commerce and encourage innovative proposals, while strengthening traditional fairs with a greater presence of local produce.

Municipalities and highlighted initiatives

A total of 35 municipalities, plus Palmanyola, will receive funding. Palmanyola will benefit from €40,000 for its commercial revitalisation project.

Among the supported initiatives are key events such as the Fira de l’Esclata-sang (Mancor de la Vall), Dijous Bo (Inca), the Fira del Pebre Bord (Felanitx), the Fira de l’Oliva (Caimari), Costitx en Flor, the Fira de Tardor (Consell), the Fira d’Artà, the Fira Dolça (Esporles) and many other iconic celebrations. Gastronomic events, local Christmas campaigns and traditional fairs across the island have also received support.

Overall balance for 2025

Across its three subsidy programmes, the department has allocated more than €2.1 million this year to promote Mallorca’s local products — a 50% increase compared to 2024. In total, 103 projects from sectors such as agri-food, hospitality, catering and municipal markets have been supported.

The funds are distributed across three lines:

  • Municipalities: €1,020,000 (42 approved projects)
  • Associations and cooperatives: €650,000 (38 beneficiaries)
  • Businesses: €450,000 (23 projects)

All initiatives share the same goal: to encourage consumption of local products, strengthen their competitiveness and reinforce the island’s business network.
