The island’s plenary assembly has approved a 20.5% reduction in the fee for the treatment of construction and demolition waste (RCD) starting in 2026, significantly exceeding the government team’s original goal of a 10% decrease.
The new RCD rate will be €33.57 per tonne, compared to €42.23 in 2025, representing a 21.51% drop for the upcoming year.
Pedro Bestard, head of the Department of Environment, Rural Affairs and Sports, highlighted that this reduction will «benefit many citizens» and reflects efficient management. He explained that the initial commitment was doubled because the priority is «to ease the financial burden on Mallorca’s residents».

Bestard also noted that this positive outcome is largely due to a considerable increase in the amount of construction and demolition waste processed over the last year, which reached a record 744,000 tonnes, well above the 622,000 tonnes recorded the previous year.
RCD waste comes from construction works, demolitions and refurbishments, and has a high potential for recycling and material recovery, reducing the need for new construction resources.
Additional reductions: bulky waste and tyres
The plenary also approved adjustments to two other tariffs included in the contract with MAC Insular:
- Bulky waste (RV): reduced by 7%, from €178.15/t to €165.58/t.
- End-of-life tyres (PNFU): reduced by 8.72%, from €118.03/t to €107.74/t.
All new fees will come into effect in 2026.
