The regional Education Department aims to increase the participation of students and teachers from the Balearic Islands in the Erasmus+ programme through the creation of a new consortium.

This objective was presented by the Minister of Education, Antoni Vera, during a meeting in Madrid with José Manuel Sánchez, the new director of Spain’s National Agency for the Internationalisation of Education (SEPIE). The Secretary for Educational Development, Mateu Suñer, also attended the meeting.

Vera explained that both institutions have begun exploring ways to expand Erasmus+ to additional educational stages and to encourage greater participation from both students and teaching staff.

Currently, the department manages the accredited projects of the EuroFP Balears consortium, which includes more than 57 public and semi-private schools. Over the last academic year, this initiative enabled more than 600 mobilities, fully funded by Erasmus+.

With the creation of the new consortium, the goal is to strengthen the programme and extend it to compulsory education levels and higher vocational training, broadening access to international learning opportunities for the Balearic educational community.
