The Consell de Mallorca has announced a restructuring of the financial support it provides to municipalities. The main grant programmes will now be combined into a single two-year call, with a total budget of €54 million for 2026–2027, aiming to simplify procedures and help councils plan long-term investments more effectively.
The measure was presented during the Assembly of Mayors, held at the Espai 36 Cultural Centre in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar. Council President Llorenç Galmés, alongside the Minister for Economic Promotion and Local Development, Pilar Amate, explained that the new model brings together the Plan for Works and Services, the PAESC initiatives and investments related to the Water Cycle.

Galmés noted that this approach will give municipalities more flexibility to direct funding towards their priority projects. Amate added that a single biennial call will reduce administrative workload, streamline management for local councils and prevent investment losses due to a lack of resources. The call is expected to be published in the first four months of 2026.
The planned distribution includes €40 million for the Works and Services Plan, €4 million for PAESC energy and climate initiatives and €10 million for improving drinking water and sanitation infrastructure.
New municipal support for 2026
The assembly also confirmed that two municipal aid lines will be renewed next year: one for the cleaning and maintenance of public paths, and another to support the enforcement of the Animal Welfare Act. Together they will total €1 million, doubling the amount granted in 2024.
Funding for animal welfare will reach €500,000 (+66.7 % compared with 2024). The same amount will go towards cleaning public paths and municipal land, representing a 150 % increase. Amate stressed that both lines respond to strong demand from local councils and have been warmly received.
