Mallorca Firefighters Warn of Higher Household Fire Risk as Arctic Air Arrives
Emergency officials note that the widespread use of fireplaces, heaters and braziers during cold spells significantly raises the likelihood of domestic incidents. Last year, the island recorded the highest number of home fires, along with several fatalities, highlighting the need to reinforce safety practices.
Authorities stress that most of these accidents can be prevented through proper maintenance of heating systems and responsible use. They also advise ensuring good ventilation, avoiding the use of improper fuels, and never leaving heat sources unattended.
