On November 21 and 22, the Teatre Principal d’Inca will once again host the Local Studies Conference, an event now in its twenty-sixth edition and firmly established as a reference point in the municipality’s cultural and academic life.
Mayor Virgilio Moreno emphasises that this is the oldest event of its kind in Mallorca and continues to stand out for the seriousness and quality of the research presented. Meanwhile, the Councillor for Culture, Alice Weber, highlights that these sessions offer residents new perspectives and a deeper understanding of their surroundings, reinforcing the sense of community.
The conference begins on November 21 at 6 p.m. with presentations focused on museology and art. At 7:30 p.m., historian Dr Ramon Molina de Dios delivers the opening lecture titled “The Railway, Inca and the Economic and Territorial Structure of Mallorca,” coinciding with the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Palma-Inca railway line.

Inca Hosts the 26th Local Studies Conference
On Saturday, November 22, starting at 9:15 a.m., participants will present research on education and terminology, medieval and modern history, and contemporary history, followed by a discussion period.
First held in 1994 and organised annually since 2006, the Local Studies Conference of Inca has become a significant event for disseminating research related to the town’s history, heritage, arts and education. Since its inception, the Scientific Committee has played a key role in ensuring the quality of the work presented and its suitability for later publication.
All contributions from this 26th edition will be compiled in a volume scheduled for release in April 2026 during the Festa del Llibre. They will also be made available digitally through the Digital Library of the Balearic Islands for researchers.
Attendance is open to the public. Those wishing to obtain a participation certificate or documentation folder may contact the Culture Department at 871 914 500 or via email at cultura@incaciutat.com.
