The Directorate General for Water Resources, under the Ministry of the Sea and Water Cycle, carried out several maintenance and improvement actions this October in different streams across the Balearic Islands. These works form part of the regular conservation service aimed at preserving channel capacity and reducing flood risks.
In Mallorca, interventions took place in Calvià, Pollença, Palma, Campanet, Escorca, Esporles, Artà and Sant Joan. Tasks included manual and mechanical clearing, pruning, waste removal and the rebuilding of traditional dry-stone walls.

Stream-cleaning operations progress across the Balearic Islands in October
On Menorca, cleaning and conditioning efforts focused on the streams of Son Gras and Ses Salines, with sediment removal and the construction of lower crossings to improve water flow.
In Ibiza, work was concentrated on the streams of Buscastell and d’en Capità, where invasive vegetation and accumulated debris were removed.
Throughout the year, investment in the maintenance and improvement of the islands’ stream network has reached 17.1 million euros, demonstrating a firm commitment to safety, sustainable water management and environmental protection.
