President Llorenç Galmés signed on Friday the collaboration agreements with 45 municipalities across the island to launch and strengthen local youth services. The signing ceremony, held in the plenary hall of the island’s administration, brought together mayors, councillors and youth representatives, who formalised the agreements that will fund youth-oriented initiatives throughout Mallorca. Also attending were FELIB president Jaume Ferriol and the island’s director of Youth and Participation, Carmen Ripoll.
The funding programme, endowed with €600,000, will support youth-dynamisation services, sociocultural activities, workshops, educational campaigns and projects promoting participation, equality, diversity, coexistence and emotional wellbeing. In 2026, the budget will increase to €650,000 with the aim of further strengthening municipal youth policies.

The island’s main institution allocates €600,000 to support youth projects in 45 municipalities
During the event, Galmés highlighted the importance of providing resources to municipalities to guarantee high-quality youth services. He emphasised that local councils are “the closest point of access for thousands of young people seeking opportunities, support and spaces for personal and social growth”.
The agreements will also finance improvements to facilities, the refurbishment of youth centres, the hiring of young staff and the creation or updating of municipal youth plans. This year, the number of beneficiary municipalities has grown from 38 to 45, something the president attributed to the growing local commitment to youth development and the usefulness of this line of funding.
Most municipalities have submitted proposals focused on youth dynamisation programmes and on updating or creating new municipal youth plans, key tools for improving local planning in this field.
2026 Budget: increased investment in youth policies
The island’s administration will allocate a total of €4,255,470 in 2026 to youth policies, an investment that will expand activities, strengthen youth participation and consolidate reference programmes across Mallorca. Planned actions include expanding places at the La Victòria camps, launching new mental-health programmes, advancing the Island Youth Plan and boosting initiatives such as Joves a la Neu, Camí de Cavalls, Ruta Jacobea, Multiaventura, as well as various sports and cultural activities for young people.
The budget also includes a general increase in all grant lines, rising to €1,350,000 dedicated exclusively to youth. Funding for municipalities and smaller local entities will increase from €600,000 to €650,000, while grants for youth associations will rise from €600,000 to €700,000.
In the field of civic participation, funding for local-administration entities will reach €200,000, and grants for non-profit associations will grow to €55,000. The volunteer programme will also increase from €140,000 to €160,000 and will be divided into two separate lines: one for associations and another specifically for municipalities.
