The 2025 edition of the Mallorca Literary Creation Awards has achieved the highest participation since its inception, with a record total of 545 submitted works. The island’s Councillor for Culture and Heritage, Antònia Roca, highlighted the continued growth of these awards, which this year also feature their largest budget to date: €138,000. The introduction of a Spanish-language narrative category for the first time marks one of the key innovations of this edition.
Participation in the awards has grown remarkably over the past six years, rising from 38 submissions in 2019 to more than half a thousand in 2025. Roca attributes this success to the improvements introduced in the competition and to the growing cultural vitality of Mallorca’s literary community.

The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, December 13, at the Llorenç Villalonga House-Museum in Binissalem. The event will gather writers, editors and cultural figures, and will include a variety of activities combining literature, music and gastronomy — from literary wine pairings to a recital inspired by classical mythology and culinary tastings tied to Mallorcan authors.
The Catalan-language awards maintain their five categories — narrative, essay, poetry, theatre, and illustrated children’s literature — while the new Spanish-language section includes narrative, essay and poetry, each with the same prize amounts. The juries, made up of prominent literary professionals, face a particularly challenging task this year due to the high number and quality of the works submitted.
