On 24 November 2025, the Mallorca Island Council held an extraordinary plenary session in which it approved the initial draft of its 2026 budget, set at €761.7 million. The proposal, the largest and most socially oriented in the institution’s history, represents a 10% increase compared to the previous year. The budget was supported by the Popular Party and Vox, while full amendments submitted by the Socialist Group, Més per Mallorca and El Pi were rejected.

With this preliminary approval, the accounts now enter a period of public consultation before returning to the chamber for a final vote in the coming weeks.

Rafel Bosch, Councillor for Finance, highlighted that the budget strengthens social policies, addresses key challenges such as mobility, tourism pressure and social services, and advances major infrastructure projects. According to Bosch, six out of every ten euros are allocated to programs that support people, particularly the most vulnerable.
