The Ministry of Education and Universities has opened the application period for public schools in the Balearic Islands wishing to take part in the «Sprechen wir Deutsch!» and «On va parler français» exchange programmes for the upcoming academic year. With a total budget of €100,000, these initiatives aim to strengthen the learning of German and French through direct immersion in regions where these languages are spoken.
The programme seeks to enhance students’ language skills, encourage meaningful learning about the cultural, historical and geographical context of the partner regions, and promote interaction with students from other countries, offering an enriching personal and educational experience.

Public schools can now apply for the language exchange programmes with Germany and France for the 2025–2026 school year
Schools may submit their applications online from tomorrow until 2 December 2025 through the Ministry’s Electronic Office.
Last school year, over 400 students from 30 public schools took part in these exchanges, which have become a key tool for improving foreign-language competence and fostering an international educational outlook.
The exchanges will take place throughout the 2025–2026 school year, and the Ministry emphasises that this initiative reflects its commitment to internationalising education and providing students with real opportunities to learn languages and experience other cultures.
