Maritime Ports and Transport Department Sets 2026 Exam Calendar with Nautical Schools
Throughout the session, the group reviewed logistical and technical issues related to the 2026 exam sessions and discussed the sector’s current training needs. The Directorate-General emphasised the importance of maintaining close collaboration in order to preserve a rigorous and updated certification system, particularly in light of growing demand.
In 2024 alone, the department processed 2,960 exam applications, spread across the four annual calls, and handled 4,232 licence issuances and renewals. These figures show the strong interest in recreational sailing qualifications: 3,017 PER licences, 507 yachtmaster licences, 264 captain licences, 442 basic titles and 2 jet-ski accreditations.
The Govern highlighted that cooperation with nautical schools is key to strengthening the professionalisation of the recreational maritime sector and to promoting a culture of safety, responsibility and good practice in the use of Balearic maritime and port resources.
