The Horse Riding Sports Institute of Mallorca (IEHM), part of the Consell de Mallorca, has announced a significant investment boost for 2026 aimed at modernising the island’s racecourses. Funding for improvements at Son Pardo and Manacor will rise by 85%, reaching 1.7 million euros, a substantial increase from the 935,000 euros allocated in 2025.
One of the flagship projects will be the complete renovation of the Son Pardo competition track, which will receive 500,000 euros after twenty-five years without major upgrades. The venue will also renew its lighting and public-address system, backed by an additional 500,000 euros, improving both racing conditions and spectator experience.

The Manacor racecourse is also set for improvements, including the installation of air conditioning in the restaurant (400,000 euros) and drainage and foundation works in the stables and box areas (200,000 euros), enhancing safety and animal welfare.
Overall, the IEHM will operate with a 5.6-million-euro budget in 2026, representing an 18.5% increase from the previous year. Combined with the rise in 2025, the institution will have expanded its budget by 37% in just two years, underlining its commitment to strengthening trotting as a key cultural, sporting and economic asset in Mallorca.
The sector’s support structure will also benefit from additional resources. The Balearic Trot Federation will receive 1.4 million euros (12% more), enabling an expanded racing calendar, while the Balearic Equestrian Federation will obtain 85,000 euros, a 13% increase over 2025.
