The Tourism department of the Consell de Mallorca will manage a budget of €20.6 million in 2026, a notable increase compared to the previous year, aimed at strengthening efforts to curb unauthorised tourism activity across the island.
Much of the additional funding supports the consolidation of staff incorporated over recent months. Expanded teams in inspection, case processing and tourism regulation will allow for faster administrative handling and greater operational capacity in detecting and responding to irregular practices.

The Island Directorate for Regulation and Quality will devote more than €2.6 million exclusively to combating unlicensed accommodation, funding awareness campaigns and maintaining inspection operations backed by ITS contributions.
This financial commitment follows the progress made during the past year, when inspections of irregular tourist activity more than tripled and cases involving unauthorised rentals saw a significant rise. The reinforced budget seeks to reverse this trend through tighter control and a more robust administrative structure.
With this updated financial framework, the department aims to strengthen the management model launched at the start of the current term and to promote a more transparent and well-regulated tourism environment.
