The project to upgrade the platforms at Santa Maria del Camí station is now open for public consultation, with construction expected to begin in the second quarter of 2026.

Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca (SFM) plans to renovate this part of the railway infrastructure to enhance safety, improve accessibility, and improve the condition of the station. The initiative forms part of the investment programme “Illes en transformació”, which aims to modernise Mallorca’s public railway network.

The tendering process is scheduled for the first quarter of 2026, and the works — budgeted at €674,223.51 (excluding VAT) — are expected to last around six months. During the construction phases, rail services will remain operational, as at least one of the two platforms will always be available.

The intervention addresses deficiencies caused by years of limited investment and will be followed by similar upgrades in other stations.

Alongside this project, SFM has been implementing wider improvements across its network: upgrading lighting systems with energy-efficient technology, renewing passenger information screens and developing further accessibility and signage enhancements.

The “Illes en transformació” plan allocates an initial €6.3 million (excluding VAT) to improve SFM stations. After Santa Maria del Camí, upgrades are planned for Binissalem and Es Pont d’Inca.

SFM continues to make progress in modernising railway infrastructure through increased investment in track maintenance, facilities, rolling stock and passenger information systems.
