The Balearic Islands Health Service will include in the December payroll a total of €13.8 million to cover the professional career back payments owed for the period between 1 August 2020 and 31 August 2021. More than 7,000 healthcare professionals from all categories who hold a recognised career level will benefit from this payment.
The regional government reinstated the professional career system in August 2024, reopening the extraordinary call that had been frozen since 2018. The initiative had been approved unanimously by the Health Sector Committee on 2 July 2024.
This new payment follows the one issued in December 2024, amounting to €16 million, which compensated the arrears accumulated between July 2018 and July 2020, benefiting around 5,000 workers. With the December payment, all back payments corresponding to July 2018 to August 2021 will have been settled.
