The Minister of Economic Promotion, Municipal Cooperation and Human Resources, Maria Fajarnés, presented the procedure for requesting financial assistance for individuals and businesses affected by damages caused by the DANA storm system and ex-hurricane Gabrielle. Applications may be submitted from Friday, December 5th, until Thursday, January 8th.
This support program is funded with 5 million euros, through an agreement between the Consell d’Eivissa and the Government of the Balearic Islands. Its purpose is to provide immediate relief for the damage caused by the severe weather events on September 30th and October 11th, which resulted in 212 incidents across the island, including flooding, road closures, and damage to homes, businesses, and infrastructure.
According to Fajarnés, the goal of these grants is to offset material and economic losses, provide quick support while waiting for national aid to arrive, and help restore homes, vehicles, and affected economic activities.
These grants are non-repayable subsidies, funded by the Balearic Government and managed by the Consell d’Eivissa. They will be awarded in order of application until the allocated funds are exhausted. Priority will be given to families forced to leave their homes, joint applications submitted by landlords and tenants, and adapted vehicles for people with reduced mobility.
