The new edition strengthens a stable, decentralised and operationally aligned training model for municipalities.
The Balearic School of Public Administration (EBAP) has announced the call for the 47th Basic Training Course for entry into the Local Police category for 2026. This edition reinforces a structured and predictable model that allows municipalities to plan the incorporation of new officers. The resolution was published in the Balearic Islands Official Gazette (BOIB) on 6 December 2025 and is now in force.
A total of 222 training places are offered: 166 in Mallorca, 20 in Menorca and 36 in Ibiza, with adjustments possible when duly justified. Training will be delivered in a decentralised format, allowing candidates to complete the course on the same island where they passed their municipal selection process. This approach brings training closer to each municipality’s operational realities and aids local planning.

The call for the 47th basic training course for Local Police officers in 2026 has been approved
The course will begin in the second half of January 2026 in Mallorca and the first half of February in Menorca and Ibiza. As in previous editions, training is divided into two stages to ensure municipalities have trainee officers available during the summer months. After completing part of the practical phase in their assigned municipalities, students will return to EBAP in September. The programme consists of 825 teaching hours, arranged into five groups in Mallorca and one group each in Menorca and Ibiza.
Municipalities with ongoing selection processes must submit their reservation requests within ten working days of the BOIB publication. Meanwhile, EBAP will automatically enrol candidates who passed the 2025 Unified Selection Process and have been assigned a place, provided they do not already hold the basic training certificate. Those who already hold it will move directly to the practical stage.
Students will receive the remuneration established for trainee public servants. Before the start of the course, municipalities must provide official uniforms and ensure that candidates have access to an Internet-connected device for online learning components.
EBAP plans to publish the final allocation of places for the Unified Process next week, completing the framework for the entry of the new class of officers who will strengthen municipal security across the islands in 2026.
