The strike affecting staff of the 112 emergency service in the Balearic Islands has been officially called off following the signing of an agreement between trade union representatives and the public entity Gestión de Emergencias de las Illes Balears (GEIB). The agreement was formalised at the Balearic Islands Arbitration and Mediation Tribunal (TAMIB), bringing the labour dispute to a definitive close.
The strike, which had been suspended since August, is now fully resolved after weeks of negotiations. The agreement includes a salary adjustment affecting 78 positions, with differentiated pay increases depending on job roles and responsibilities.

In addition, the deal provides for reinforced staffing levels during periods of peak demand —such as July, August, Easter and weekends— to ensure a more efficient response to emergency calls.
The agreement also updates the duties of frontline emergency call operators, aligning their responsibilities with the current operational needs of the service and improving the quality of assistance provided to the public.
The successful outcome is the result of joint negotiations involving GEIB management, led by its director Francisca González, social partners, and representatives from the regional ministries responsible for labour, public administration and government coordination.
