More than one thousand primary school students from Mallorca have taken part in the first edition of the school drawing contest “Draw Your Christmas Postcard”, an initiative aimed at encouraging children’s creativity through a Christmas theme rooted in local traditions.
The award ceremony was held at the Patio de les Rentadores of the La Misericòrdia Cultural Centre, bringing together institutional representatives, teachers, and participating students. The contest was organised in collaboration with the Mallorca School Council and is intended to become an annual event recognising young artistic talent across the island.

The event highlighted the importance of promoting cultural and artistic activities among children, especially during the Christmas season, and underlined the role of art as a tool for expression, learning, and cultural identity.
In this first edition, more than 1,000 students from first to fourth grade of primary education took part, representing municipalities such as Palma, Artà, Calvià, Búger, Manacor, Porreres, Campos, Alaró, and Andratx, with a total of thirteen participating schools.
The contest included two categories:
- First and second grade
- Third and fourth grade
In the first category, the first prize was awarded to Jimena Martín García (Sant Vicenç de Paül, Coll d’en Rebassa), the second to Mia Boshoff Asensi (Aixa–Llaüt), and the third to Manuel Montis Carbonell (Sant Vicenç de Paül).
In the second category, Pere Simó Valcaneras Palmer (Aixa–Llaüt) won first prize, followed by Alma Caro Silva (CEIP Pere Rosselló Oliver) in second place and Nacho Guerra Luque (Sant Vicenç de Paül) in third.
Prizes included art supplies adapted to each ranking position and, in all cases, four tickets to attend a performance at the Teatre Principal of Palma. Additionally, each participating school received a set of books and tickets for the teachers involved in promoting the contest.
The jury, made up of members of the Mallorca School Council, assessed the originality, artistic quality, and expressive capacity of the submitted postcards.
