Mallorca hosted the awards ceremony for the 2025 Literary Creation and Contemporary Photography Awards at the Llorenç Villalonga House Museum in Binissalem. This year’s edition marked a milestone, reaching a record 545 submissions, the highest number in the history of the awards. A major highlight was the introduction, for the first time, of a Spanish-language Narrative category.

During the event, the president of the island institution, Llorenç Galmés, highlighted the outstanding level of participation and the quality of the submitted works, underlining the strong presence of the awards within Mallorca’s cultural landscape. The councillor for Culture and Heritage, Antònia Roca, praised the dedication of the juries, made up of more than forty professionals, who faced an especially demanding edition.

Mallorca hosts the 2025 Literary Creation and Contemporary Photography Awards Gala

The ceremony adopted a renewed format, turning the gala into a true celebration of literature and artistic creation. The programme featured musical performances, wine tastings and a gastronomic pairing designed by chef Miquel Calent. One of the key moments was the opening presentation by writer Empar Moliner, who combined literary readings with local wines in her proposal “Maridar els llibres”. The programme also included the recital “Metamorphoses”, inspired by classical myths, performed by musician Ferran Pisà and rhapsodist Miquel Costa.

The central moment of the event came with the announcement of the award winners in the literary and photography categories, presented by journalist Margalida Mateu, accompanied by readings from the winning works.

The celebration continued with a performance by the group Two Little Rooms, formed by Aina Zanoguera and Gori Matas, and concluded with two gastronomic experiences: “Vins i llibres”, a selection of wines linked to literary works, and “Mossegades literàries”, a tasting inspired by books written by Mallorcan authors.
