The emergency medical service SAMU 061 has delivered a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training session at CEIP Els Molins, a public primary school located in s’Arracó, in the municipality of Andratx. A total of 80 participants, including pupils and teachers, were trained in basic life-saving resuscitation techniques.
The main objective of this initiative is to promote CPR skills among the school community across the Balearic Islands by first training public school teachers, who can then pass on this knowledge to their students. In turn, students are encouraged to share what they have learned with their families and friends, creating a chain effect aimed at ensuring that an entire generation acquires basic life support skills.

Health authorities highlight that teaching non-medical personnel how to recognise a life-threatening situation and correctly perform basic emergency techniques can be one of the most effective measures to protect lives. Early action before professional help arrives is crucial in critical emergencies.
On average, two cases of cardiac arrest occur every day in the Balearic Islands. Immediate and properly performed CPR significantly increases a victim’s chances of survival, facilitates faster recovery and reduces the likelihood and severity of long-term consequences.
