Representatives from the Institut Mallorquí d’Afers Socials (IMAS), together with members of the Social Welfare area and the island’s disability support team, visited the EFI centre located at La Puríssima School in Palma to learn first-hand about the work carried out with people with disabilities.

During the tour, the delegation observed the five occupational workshops offered by the centre: ceramics, crafts, communication, multiple intelligences and horticulture. All of them are aimed at enhancing personal autonomy, strengthening social skills, and encouraging active participation.

Social Welfare representatives highlighted their intention to continue supporting services that improve the quality of life of people with disabilities and their families, ensuring resources that are stable and tailored to real needs.

IMAS emphasised that occupational services are essential tools for advancing dignity, autonomy and social inclusion, and noted the value of collaborating with third-sector organisations such as EFI to provide high-quality, person-centred support.

The EFI occupational service offers 65 IMAS-funded places, ensuring ongoing and stable care. This collaboration strengthens a specialised network designed to respond to the needs of people with disabilities while providing stability to professional teams.

The visit reflects the commitment to further promote social policies aimed at inclusion, equal opportunities, and personal autonomy, acknowledging the key role that occupational services play within the public social services network of Mallorca.
