The Consell de Mallorca has commemorated the 100th anniversary of Consell, Lloret de Vistalegre, Mancor de la Vall and Ses Salines becoming independent municipalities with an institutional ceremony held in the Patio de Homes at la Misericòrdia Cultural Center. The event was attended by the President of the Consell, Llorenç Galmés, executive and elected councillors, the mayors and council members of the four municipalities, local associations and many residents.
The celebration opened with a performance of ball de bot featuring local dance groups, xeremiers, and traditional giants from each town. Afterwards, mayors Andreu Isern, Sebastià Amengual, Pep Frontera and Guillem Mas read the original municipal constitution documents, accompanied by commemorative videos and a tribute to all the mayors who have led the councils over the past century.

Mallorca Marks the 100th Anniversary of Consell, Lloret de Vistalegre, Mancor de la Vall and Ses Salines as Independent Municipalities
In his speech, President Llorenç Galmés emphasized that “today Mallorca breathes history, pride and future, because we celebrate one hundred years since four communities, with prudence, determination and deep love for their people, chose to walk with their own voice.” He recalled that a century ago these municipalities did not seek privileges, but rather “the ability to govern with proximity, make decisions for their neighbours and build a future rooted in their identity.”
Galmés also expressed his gratitude to all the mayors who have served throughout these hundred years, highlighting that “being a mayor, especially in small towns, is not just a position; it is a vocation, a constant commitment and a way of staying close to the people, both in moments of joy and in times of difficulty.”
The ceremony concluded with the interpretation of La Balanguera, Mallorca’s anthem, performed by the Ses Salines Seniors’ Choir, the Centre Cívic Sa Colònia Choir and the Youth Choir of the Teatre Principal de Palma, followed by a community meal for all attendees.
