Authorities responsible for managing access to Formentor have agreed on the restriction calendar for 2026. Private vehicle access will be limited between 15 May and 15 October, with daily closure times set from 10:00 to 22:00. The adjustment follows a request from Pollença Town Council, which highlighted the high number of visitors in May and the reduced activity observed in the second half of October.

The dates reflect the assessment of the 2025 system, when restrictions were extended until the end of October. Traditionally, access was limited from 1 June to 30 September. As in previous years, access during the restricted period will only be allowed by public transport, on foot or by bicycle, except for authorised vehicles.

Access to Formentor will be restricted from 15 May to 15 October in 2026

Representatives from the Consell de Mallorca, Pollença Town Council, the Directorate-General for Traffic, the Civil Guard, the Mallorca Transport Consortium and the Port Authority, among others, participated in the meeting.

The restriction system includes two control zones:

  • First section: from Port de Pollença to Formentor beach.
  • Second section: from the beach to the lighthouse.

During 2025, the DGT issued 2,300 fines for non-compliance—around one thousand more than in 2024—partly due to the extended duration of the restrictions. The Consell de Mallorca plans to allocate €137,000 in 2026 to fund information staff who will help inform drivers. Fines range from €100 to €200, depending on the offence.
