Food security subsidies increased to €1.5 million to reach the maximum number of beneficiaries
The goal is to finance projects that provide food and essential goods to individuals and families in vulnerable situations, helping to reduce the risks of social exclusion. The programme has three funding categories:
- Food distribution projects for organisations dedicated to food supply (350,000 €).
- Food and essential goods distribution for users in one or more municipalities (increased to 904,685.91 €).
- Social dining hall projects (increased to 250,000 €).
Recipient organisations will receive the full amount in advance, without the need to present any guarantees.
Around €5.5 million allocated to food security since 2023
These €1.5 million add to the nearly €4 million that, since December 2023, the Ministry has allocated to calls supporting food-related projects. Furthermore, the Basic Material Assistance Programme —known as the food card programme and funded by the EU’s FSE+ funds— was recently awarded to the Red Cross for €12.7 million for the period 2025–2028.
