The island administration has signed a collaboration agreement with Cor Illa de Menorca to support the commemorative concert held at the Teatre Principal de Maó on the occasion of the choir’s 25th anniversary. The agreement includes a financial contribution of €6,000, recognising the ensemble’s long-standing commitment to promoting musical culture on the island.

Cor Illa de Menorca, founded in 2000 as a non-profit organisation, was created with the aim of bringing music closer to the public while adapting song lyrics to the local language. The group currently comprises 103 members—including singers, board members, volunteers, partner companies and regular supporters—and engages around 2,000 people each year, a figure that reflects its strong community presence after a quarter century of activity.

Given this proven trajectory, the Presidency Department considers it important to collaborate with the entity and help cover part of the costs of the anniversary concert, which served as a tribute to 25 years of artistic dedication and cultural contribution.

The island’s president, Adolfo Vilafranca, highlighted that this support is “a way to acknowledge the remarkable work carried out by Cor Illa de Menorca and to pay tribute to a quarter century of music that has enriched Menorca’s cultural life.” He also emphasised that the choir’s ability to mobilise thousands of people annually confirms its key role in the island’s cultural landscape.
