Manuela García, head of the health department, and Jaume Carot, rector of the University of the Balearic Islands, signed today the agreement that establishes the new UIB Chair for Health Promotion. The initiative aims to advance research, knowledge transfer and the development of salutogenic strategies designed to improve the well-being of the Balearic population.
The signing ceremony, held at the Rectorate, was attended by representatives from the health and academic spheres. It was also announced that Professor Mauro García, psychiatrist and researcher, will lead the new chair.
The project adopts a comprehensive and multidisciplinary perspective, incorporating the One Health model, which addresses human, animal and environmental health as interconnected elements. According to García, the new chair seeks to update scientific knowledge and promote innovative measures that strengthen the factors that support and sustain health.
