The Balearic Islands Office in Brussels has welcomed four new trainees who will help strengthen the region’s institutional presence within the European Union while gaining professional experience in a European environment. The reception was led by the Second Vice-President and Minister for the Presidency, Coordination of Government Action and Local Cooperation, Antònia Maria Estarellas.
The trainees will officially begin their duties on Monday, 12 January, after arriving in Brussels this weekend. During their placement, they will support the office’s daily activities, monitor EU policies of interest to the Balearic Islands, cooperate with European institutions and networks, and contribute to the analysis of European programmes, initiatives and funding opportunities.
Now in its fourth edition, the traineeship programme represents a total investment of €90,000 and further strengthens the Brussels office as a key strategic tool serving the public interest. The office also has permanent technical staff and will welcome an additional policy officer in February to support and guide the trainees.

The new trainees are Raúl Calleja Martínez, holding a double degree in Law and Economics and dual master’s degrees in Law and Corporate Law; Raquel Velasco Gómez, a graduate in International Relations with a master’s degree in Foreign Trade; Anaïs Amelivia Bringer, a graduate in Economics and Business Management with a master’s degree in Social and Solidarity Economy Management; and Maria Antònia Bibiloni Quetglas, a Law graduate with master’s degrees in European Law, International Relations and Asian Studies, and previous professional experience at the European Commission.
This new intake highlights the ongoing commitment to developing young talent and enhancing the Balearic Islands’ representation within European institutions.
