The Town Council of Inca has released the Inca Environmental Calendar 2026, a long-standing initiative that highlights sustainability, citizen participation and the municipality’s natural surroundings. The calendar features the winning photographs from the contest “A Year of Landscapes, Life and Sustainability”, organised by the Department of Environment.

According to Councillor for the Environment Helena Cayetano, the project continues to receive a very positive response from the public. She highlighted the strong commitment shown by participants, many of whom take part year after year, and praised the high quality of the submitted photographs, which capture the richness and diversity of Inca’s natural environment.

This year’s edition saw the participation of 46 photographers, who submitted a total of 129 images focusing on local landscapes, environmental awareness, biodiversity and sustainable practices. The jury selected 13 photographs to illustrate each month of the year and the cover of the calendar. Each image includes the author’s name and a short description. The selected photographers receive a €100 prize, along with several copies of the calendar.

In addition to the images, the calendar highlights key dates related to environmental protection and sustainability, with the aim of raising public awareness and encouraging respect for nature. As Cayetano explained, the initiative seeks to promote environmental values not only among participants but also among all residents who use the calendar throughout the year.

Residents of Inca can collect their free copy of the calendar from the Department of Environment, located on Sant Francesc Street, in the Covered Market building.
