The Mallorca Fire Service has closed 2025 with a positive assessment, marked by modernisation efforts, a strong focus on prevention and an effective response to a wide range of emergencies. Throughout the year, firefighters handled 5,182 incidents, fewer than in previous years, highlighting the impact of preventive measures and improved operational efficiency.

Most interventions were related to rescue operations, forest and urban fires, technical assistance, traffic accidents and incidents caused by adverse weather conditions, all managed through coordinated action across the island.

The year was particularly significant in terms of strengthening resources and operational capacity. A key milestone was the full consolidation of the sa Milana helicopter, officially introduced in the summer, which has become an essential tool for rescues, wildfire response, preventive surveillance and support for complex operations. The aerial unit took part in 64 missions, significantly reducing response times and enhancing safety for both citizens and emergency personnel.

Investment in infrastructure also continued, with new fire stations such as Santanyí and the modernisation of the Manacor station, ensuring facilities meet current and future operational needs. Sustainability measures were also implemented, including the installation of solar panels at the Alcúdia station to improve energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

Beyond the island, Mallorca firefighters assisted in emergency operations following flooding in Eivissa, deploying personnel and resources in coordination with other authorities.

The year 2025 also marked the 25th anniversary of the Mountain Rescue Group (GRM), a specialised unit operating in challenging environments such as mountains, cliffs and natural areas. Since its establishment in 2000, the group has taken part in more than 4,000 rescues, becoming a benchmark for high-complexity technical operations thanks to specialised training, accumulated experience and the support of aerial resources.

The institution reaffirmed its commitment to public safety and highlighted the dedication and professionalism of its personnel, stressing the importance of continued investment in staff, infrastructure and technical resources to address increasingly complex emergencies.
