Mallorca ended 2025 with an outstanding result for the trotting sector, driven by increased public funding, upgraded facilities and an expanded racing calendar at the Son Pardo and Manacor racecourses, both of which recorded strong public attendance.

A key development during the year was the increase in funding for the Balearic Trotting Federation, which reached €1.25 million. This boost enabled a rise in subsidised races, with 252 competitions held at Son Pardo and 408 at Manacor, further strengthening their role as leading trotting venues. The upward trend is expected to continue in 2026.

The Mallorca Equestrian Sports Institute (IEHM) operated with a €4.78 million budget in 2025, representing an 18.8% increase compared to 2024, allowing for strategic initiatives to modernise and reinforce one of the island’s most traditional sports.

Support was also maintained for flagship events such as the National Grand Prix, the Mallorca Festival Grand Prix and the Breeders’ Grand Prix, which once again brought together top horses and drivers, delivering high-level sporting events and strong spectator turnout.

Infrastructure investment totalled €935,000 in 2025, covering refurbishment and maintenance works at both racecourses. These efforts pave the way for 2026, when a full renovation of the Son Pardo racing track is planned, alongside further modernisation projects. Investment funding will rise to €1.7 million, an 85% increase year on year.

Beyond sport, 2025 also reinforced the cultural and social dimension of trotting, with complementary activities, family-oriented events and traditional celebrations helping to broaden its appeal across the island.
