The recruitment process for joining the Armed Forces in 2026 begins with a notable increase in the number of positions available for troop and sailor roles. In this first selection cycle, a total of 4,527 vacancies have been opened, aimed at strengthening the different branches of the military and responding to current operational needs.
Most of the available positions are allocated to the Army, followed by the Navy and the Air and Space Force, maintaining a balanced distribution among the three services. In addition, a number of vacancies include specific evaluation criteria for high-performance athletes, acknowledging their physical preparation and competitive background.

Increase in Troop and Sailor Vacancies Marks the Start of the 2026 Recruitment Process
Applicants are required to complete a prior application process to take part in the selection tests. This procedure is carried out through the designated electronic system and requires the use of digital identification.
The application period opens in early January and runs until late February. Candidates who successfully pass the selection process will begin their training at military education and training centres in early May, where they will start their initial instruction and adaptation to military life.
A second recruitment cycle is expected to be launched later in the year, offering additional vacancies and a new application period, thereby expanding opportunities for those who do not apply or are not selected in the first phase.
