The latest free examination call of the Linguistic and Cultural Training Plan (FOLC) has been met with strong participation from teaching staff, with 131 registered candidates and 63 successful applicants, representing a pass rate of approximately 63% among those who sat the exams.

This additional call, held in November, was introduced to address timing constraints associated with the traditional March-only examination schedule. In previous years, the single annual call made it difficult for some candidates to obtain the FOLC certification in time to apply for teaching recruitment processes. The new call improves flexibility and administrative planning.

The initiative was made possible through a renewed cooperation agreement between the Conselleria d’Educació i Universitats and the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). Under this agreement, the regional education authority increased its financial contribution by €15,000, ensuring that the examinations could be organised under optimal conditions.

The Conselleria has expressed high satisfaction with both the level of participation and the smooth running of the process, highlighting the teaching community’s commitment to professional development and linguistic qualification.

As in previous years, the next FOLC free examination call is scheduled for March.

The FOLC is a programme promoted by the Conselleria d’Educació i Universitats of the Government of the Balearic Islands. It aims to certify and strengthen teachers’ ability to teach in and through the Catalan language in non-university education, while also supporting ongoing pedagogical development and educational quality.
