The Government of the Balearic Islands has significantly strengthened its adapted leisure programme, increasing both the number of subsidised places and the overall budget by 45%, to ensure that all families with dependent children can benefit from this support.
The Director General for Dependency and Disability Care, María Castro, recently met with a range of social organisations —including Amadiba, Aspace, Mater and Joan XXIII— to design the next call for applications.

A 45% increase in adapted leisure places to meet all requests from families with dependent children
Launched in 2024, this pioneering programme targets non-profit organisations that provide adapted leisure activities during school holiday periods, including summer, Easter and Christmas. It is aimed at children and adolescents aged 3 to 18 with level II or III dependency linked to functional diversity, while also supporting their families by promoting respite care and work-life balance.
Following the strong demand in previous editions, the programme’s budget has been increased to €1,862,856, compared to the initial €1.6 million allocated for two years. The initiative seeks to ensure equal access across all islands, foster social inclusion within the community and enhance participants’ quality of life and personal autonomy.
