The average working time established in collective bargaining agreements in the Balearic Islands currently stands at 38.7 hours per week, according to an analysis carried out by the Regional Ministry of Labour, Public Service and Social Dialogue, based on data provided by the General Directorate of Labour.
The assessment covers both agreements currently in force and those signed and published during 2025 in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands (BOIB). It includes company-level, sectoral and public administration agreements, offering a comprehensive picture of negotiated working hours in the Balearic labour market.
In the private sector, the average working week amounts to 39.4 hours, a figure that also applies to sector-wide agreements. By contrast, working time in public administrations is shorter, averaging 36.8 hours per week.
Within the sectoral framework, the hospitality industry stands out, with a negotiated working week of 40 hours, exceeding the overall average and highlighting the prevalence of full-time schedules in one of the region’s key economic sectors.
In the public sector, average annual working time reaches 1,638 hours under currently valid agreements, while agreements signed and published in 2025 set an average of 1,602 hours per year. Every week, this corresponds to 36.8 hours for existing agreements and 36.3 hours for those published this year.

The data also reveal variability within public administration agreements, with working weeks ranging from 35 hours in several municipalities and local entities to 40 hours in specific cases, such as the Balearic Emergency Institute. Overall, however, most public-sector agreements fall within a range of 35 to 37.5 hours per week.
Taken together, both current and newly published agreements point to a consistent trend: the majority of negotiated working time in the Balearic Islands is set at around 38.7 hours per week.
